| the project - saturday in design 20091st August 2009 The Whitehouse Institute of Interior Design ‘The Project’ wins People’s Choice Award...' | Congratulations to the Whitehouse Institute of Design students, who won the Saturday in Design 'People's Choice Award' for 'The Project'!
The Whitehouse Institute of Design were recruited by Mico, Stylecraft and Alternative Surfaces, to create an installation for 'The Project' to feature at Saturday in Design 2009.
Using recycled binders, the students created a lighting structure, suspended in the centre of the showroom, with blue and purple lights positioned on either side to reflect off the silver coated binders. Seating was constructed from 'Kohler' binders to create a breakout area. A herb plantation situated in the 'Appliance' area complemented the chefs cooking on-site. A 'Waterfall' extended from the windows in the Promotional area, coated with blue and silver crystal quartz from Alternative Surfaces. This installation was fitted with sounds, surprising guests as they walked past the installation.
A very successful 'Project', which was celebrated with a luncheon on the 31st July, with special guest Matthew Sheargold.
